Why indeed? While I can’t offer a definitive answer, I can explain why the name Shortchen. In German, diminutives are a thing (like Brot becoming Brötchen), so despite being significantly taller (than dwarves), I chose the nickname Shortchen as a playful twist on that. It's wordplay and I'm really short.
